Catering to groups and families, the Shearers Quarters offers stunning views of the Aotea Harbour, vast farm lands and natural beauty. You won't want to leave this spot!
The Shearers Quarters offers a home away from home, surrounded by breath taking views. Fully refurbished including disability shower and toilet, heat pump, insulation, double glazed windows, BBQ, large entertainers decking with ramp access, fully carpeted and a UV water filter system.
THE SPACE
The Shearers Quarters once stood in Turangi, where it was a ski lodge and it was transported to the Ookapu Station in the early 1980s. During this time it was the shearing gang's main accommodation while they worked at the Ookapu Station. The former set up of the Shearers Quarters had a separate sleeping and toilet block for men and women.
The Shearers Quarters has undergone a major refurbishment programme over the past 18 months and we’re now pleased to offer this revamped facility for your enjoyment and pleasure.
Room Configuration:

Room 1: 1x queen bed & 1x single

Room 2: 2x sets single bunk beds & 1x single fold out couch.

Room 3: Toilets and Bathroom

Room 4: Lounge & Kitchen. 1x Single fold out couch.

Room 5: Master bedroom disability wet shower, 1x queen bed & 1x queen bed fold out couch
All beds in rooms are supplied with the following:

Mattress protector and bottom sheet

Pillow protector and pillowcase
You will need to provide your own blanket/sleeping bag, towels and toiletries.
TENTS & CAMPING
If you wish to set up tents, then you must supply your own tent/s. The camping area is near the water tanks directly outside the windows in front of the lounge on the flat grass area.
You’ll notice a light on the wall near the water tanks/lounge wall, this large spotlight faces the camping ground area and the spot light, when switched on, lights up this whole grass camping area.
GUEST ACCESS
The area beyond and around the quarters fence line is strictly out of bounds, please do not go wander around the farm, as there are many dangers not seen.
There are a number of wandering animals, horses and other animals that freely roam around the location, please be mindful when driving the roads that you may encounter these animals, please drive to the conditions and keep safe.
OTHER THINGS TO NOTE
Quad Bikes and other traffic - Aotea Road
Occasionally, you may see children or others riding past the quarters on ATV quad bikes, please be mindful of these children and other road users as they may not necessarily see you on the road, always drive with your lights on when on the rural roads, which will help you to be seen more clearly.
Rubbish
Please leave all rubbish in the back rubbish bags, and tie off at the end of your stay and leave on top of the green recycling bins at the front.
